You know his name is Captain Jack Sparrow he inherited the Black Pearl from his captain he also inherited the compass and then use that compass to sail right into a cave but at the last second turned so the people behind it would sail into it and then get cursed forever.

It sucks to be a pirate for many reasons: 1. Lots of disease 2. Horrible living conditions/ horrible food 3.There weren't that many epic pirate battles!
