Only human can think that alien would immediately want to destroy humanity. No, other species are not such a destructive morons like humans are. Also even if aliens did attack humans, where's the downsides? Pests would be eradicated, big deal.

It says you know whether aliens exist, so the chance of them existing is just as low as before, but now you're just certain. So there will most likely not be any downside.
