Immortality takes away the freedom to chose not to live. A better alternative to immortality would be to be able to chose when to die.

Lets suppose for a moment, you get in to a horrible accident. Like...REALLY bad. You're immortal, not invincible. You live forever without arms or legs. And because you're going to live FOREVER, the odds of that happening AT SOME POINT are more than pretty good.

I already give no shits about people who die. I came to terms with it when I was 4 years of age. Long story short, I wouldn't really care if all my friends died. I could always make new ones if I wanted to, and I wouldn't cry over them.

Even if I don't press the button, everyone I know will die of age. This actually could be a good thing because what if someone in your family has cancer? Then they will have to die of age, not cancer, because of the button. They could jump off a building and live because, they have to die of AGE.
