"Can" is a very useful word, if you pay attention (Unless you're drunk, then you just screwed yourself) you can use it as a last resort, or escape society, if you think about it. What i'm saying is, you CAN shapeshift, if you don't, you stay a human.

This is simple. Basic immortality. Convert to, let’s say a young elephant or lion. Once your about to die covert back to a young animal. Easy. Ofcorse you could stay in the same state, that would take converting for milliseconds, for long times.
