I have a 2DS, it's exactly the same as a 3DS except that doesn't have the feature that hurts your eyes and/or gives you a headache.

I fail to see the downside. I don't like the 2DS personally, but if I can get a bit of extra money from it, alongside whatever I'm getting from PC and console sales, I won't say no.

except when you realize the 2DS is just a 3DS without the 3D function. so therefore it would work on the 3DS. which by itself is a good handheld.

The platform doesn't matter to me, but there shouldn't be a definitive greatest game of all time. Even the greatest game will deteriorate in value. This just means that every other game after it will indefinitely be worth less in comparison.
