you can only (permanently) paralize yourself or anything else like that if you know that you are paralized when you die.

I will die eventually. I'll just keep preventing it until there"s no possible way I can avoid it. For example, if I know that I'll get hit by a car tomorrow, I can just prevent it. TECHNICALLY, I'll still die, but not tomorrow.
