You can just carry the button with you, and use it if you are in mortal danger. You don't have to live forever.

I would bring the button along with me, and then if something bad were to happen like if I was in a car about to crash I would press the button so I wouldn't get hurt. Like if you didn't want to die yet you could just use it for extended life at times.

Fail to see the downside. There would have to be a physical button, of course, as this digital button cannot be "touched" per se, but with a small physical button to keep on you at all times, spurts of immortality could prove very useful. That or implanting it like Erik said.
