Also sailing refers generally just refers to the ability to captain/pilot/drive any boat, not just a sailboat, even running a drag boat is still referred to as sailing

You should never have the need to swim as a sailor, some of the best sailors on record never knew how to swim at all and many of them died because their enemies blew their ship up and they couldn't swim away
