Not being hungry doesnt equal not needing to eat, hungry is a feeling of wanting to eat, not because you dont need to eat.

You eat to gain energy. Oxygen releases said energy and you then store it until you need it. So you eat to live. Although it could be both for some people.

...Doesn't hunger exist to tell us when we're supposed to eat? If we never get hungry, why not just tell us that the option is to shoot ourselves to death? The end result is the same...
