You could just switch twice to get back to your original gender if you want and then just make your tailbone have an extra atom in it or perfect yourself. It"s not your original form.

If I (a guy) shape-shift into a girl, I can then use my ability to shape-shift into the opposite gender, which is male and become a slightly altered version of my original form. Like world record strong and fast.
