Meh. With scientific progress, it's not too difficult to imagine deafness being fixed (they've found a way to fix vocal chords) But I don't care enough about the upside to make up for the risk it won't be fixed.

This is actually not as simple as some would think. there are only devices that help people with IMPAIRED hearing (as in they have hearing, just not very good hearing). scientists have yet to make a cure for those who have no hearing at all.
