Nasa"s funding might get cut, but there are other space programs that might be better. And as for over population issues it would give us a legitimate reason to teraform and colonize other planets faster

Nasa"s funding getting cut shouldn't matter in the case of world peace. So long as the World Peace is like genuine cooperation and not some dumb end times scenario, you could have space programs cooperate.
