Easy, while we won't leave earth, we can still send stuff into space. We'll figure out how to move the planet somehow via robots. And since we have billions of years to do so, I think we'll be fine.

The sun won't actually explode it will expand to the point of swallowing earth but it isn't massive enough to explode. It will shed its outer layers after expanding into a red giant so what's left behind is a white dwarf the size of earth.

The sun doesn't explode, it will expand to the size of a red giant therefore engulfing or burning the earth. After then, it fade away into a planetary nebula and the core will become a white dwarf. I shoulknow as I am an astronomer.
