I fail to see the downside. A single government would mean unity, there wouldn't be wars between countries over resources and such. Sounds good to me.

A one world government would probably end all wars and unlock many possibilities for jobs, travel etc. The only downside is if it was a dictatorship or/and if the government was racist and gave people from one country/religion less rights but then we would rebel and it would still be kinda fun.
