I would say most diseases can be cured, and a lot of the population (at least half) have a disease that would be classified as bad? As much as it would be great, it would kill so many people.

This is one of those "sacrifice some for the sake of the many". A hard decision; but with the diseases being eradicated, that would help humanity. And then we could focus on curing other sicknesses.
