If time travel is possible, then I believe that whats happened is inevitable. Lets say you tried to save Abe Lincoln and you stop the shooter, maybe instead of being killed he trips on the steps to give his speech? If time says someone will die at that given moment then so be it.

I'd only use it for fairly short jumps back, anyway, to prevent screwing up the timeline too much. Not being able to save Jimi is unfortunate, but I wouldn't want to risk a change that potentially big anyway.
