But (as much as I hate to say it) the Holocaust caused a chain of events that lead up to the present. Preventing it would change the course of history and everything we know would change.

If time travel is possible, then I believe that whats happened is inevitable. Lets say you tried to save Abe Lincoln and you stop the shooter, maybe instead of being killed he trips on the steps to give his speech? If time says someone will die at that given moment then so be it.
