think about it this way. you can't turn it off. ever. you won't be able to sleep. you won't be able to get solitude. you will be driven into insanity and possibly poverty and resort to a life of crime, or even commit suicide.

You can see the downside in a episode of "Buffy the vampireslayer". You can't controll it. You always hear their thoughts like they are talking. You habe to avoid any place with more than two or three people. It will drive you nuts.
