Make new steam account > push button > you have to spend 10 bucks to be able to have friends > free games and no friends (sounds wrong but it"s ok)

Just always set your status with your friends to offline. Just never use it as a social network again. It's worth it for every game on steam.

most of the games on steam these days are shitty shovelware titles, and a good chunk of people are really just spambots. Pretty much a lose lose situation here.
