If you pause time, that means everything around you would be paused. Therefore, the device (assuming it"s an electronic device) will not be able to send electric signals to unpause time. Therefore, you"d be stuck in a paused time era forever.

you blackout.... then you wake up, figure out what you were going to do, then do it. get yourself prepared by pausing time a lot, then use the other powers, because now you won't blackout in the 90's or future or whenever you go
