This isn't a problem. It's because we really don't understand what time is. People assume that time is a strict progression from cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more of a great big ball of wibbly wobbly... timey wimey... stuff.

If you press the button, you can travel back in time. If you don't press the button, you can't time travel at all. What's the downside to pressing it?
