I pressed the button because if you don't hear them thinking, it means that they don't have anything negative to say about you. Also, you'll know what they don't like about you and then you can change it.

There is a difference between being able to read somebodys mind and hearing everything they think. You have to do it intentionally. You cant read a book without opening it.
