Why catch them if you can make friends with them? They may decide to live with you. And you don't have to raise them. Profit. (also how dangerous is pichu when not rasied properly? His entry says that even his own electricity is hurting them. And he is my favourite.)

as long as you take him out once you have two of each pokemon take the ditto out of the daycare so it doesn't try to kill you

Well maxing out there friendship and affection to me is my first priority when I play pokemon and taking care of them wont be an issue I have pets unless I chose something huge that you cant feed it shold not be a problom. As for only catching one you dont have to catch them to befriend them.

Have a Ditto and breed with all your friends, who each have a different Pokemon. You each get an egg of your own. Then, when you meet other people, trade with them to add new Pokemon to your arsenal, but keep the Ditto. Repeat. Gotta Hatch "Em All!
