Why catch them if you can make friends with them? They may decide to live with you. And you don't have to raise them. Profit. (also how dangerous is pichu when not rasied properly? His entry says that even his own electricity is hurting them. And he is my favourite.)

as long as you take him out once you have two of each pokemon take the ditto out of the daycare so it doesn't try to kill you

By the way, you can only catch one (insert italics for catch). There are other ways such as buying, trading, and receiving as gifts. Or get your friend to catch yours for you then they'll give it to you.
