The death happens after the copy is made, so the copy will not have any memory of the other one dying unless the copy is nearby (you just teleported up to some sort of platform nearby) and sees the old you die.

No, you don't. You create a clone where you want to be and then you die. You don't switch perspectives.

So it"s basically a gamble, if you have a soul (meaning if there is a god) you die, if there is no god, and souls don't exist, you get to live. I would take the gamble.
