Past is a WAY better choice. When you travel in the future, you cant go back to your regular time/times you have missed that are great. With the past one, you could relive some nice moments...

Pressing the button is a no-brainer. The direction of travel is its own debate, but there is no proximate downside to choosing to gain time travel as an ability.

I will travel in the future just before I die. In 2100, then 2200, 2300 and so on until the end. So I'll kinda live forever lol

I don't want to mess with anything in the past, and I don't want to go into the future cus i watched those "What will happen in [blank] years" videos and those get dark. Just realized i should have pressed it and picked past and f*ck up everything and go back and redo XD

I"d take the ability to travel backwards and use it to undo any mistakes I make. Sort of like save-state abuse but in real life!

(Presses button) Have a kid, go forward in time, meet them in the future, become their best friend, and tell them when they're a few years older who you are. Or just call the Doctor whenever you want to go in the other direction.
