When no one is looking I TURN invisible but I STAY invisible for as long as I want. Besides turning invisible when someone looking is pretty dumb anyways

You can only TURN invisible when nobody is observing you. It says nothing about staying invisible.

The key point is that this only restricts you to activate this ability when no one is around, and when you are invisible, others cannot see you.
