No, our brain does it for us so we dont have to think of it while we are doing other stuff, if we were breathing manually, we would all die in our sleep because we would not breathe.

So you'd become a vegetable to the need to remember how to breath, to the exclusion of all other needs? All to go without sleep? There's literally no benefit here when you have to think to monitor your breath 24/7.

Actually, your body breathes for you. Your brain sends signals to your lungs or whatever that cause them to inflate and deflate which is how you breathe. If you"d pressed the button your brain would stop sending the signals for you and you"d have to focus on breathing to actually breathe.
