If you look at the British definition of ‘read’, it says ‘a period or act of reading something’, which suggests you don’t actually have to process what you’ve read. This means you can scan through the spoiler without actually reading what it says, meaning you won’t spoil anything. Easy peasy.

If a spoiler ruins the movie, unless it's a mystery then the writing probably isn't very good if it relies on the shocking reveal. Good stories are still enjoyable even if you know how it ends.
