If your skin was made out of Kevlar, then it would be almost useless. You need about 17 layers of Kevlar to be bullet proof and human skin is WAY thinner than that

I don't see any downside here. Basically Earth has already had a zombie outbreak, drunks and drug addicts. A few more wouldn't be that bad.
