Immortality takes away the freedom to chose not to live. A better alternative to immortality would be to be able to chose when to die.

Lets suppose for a moment, you get in to a horrible accident. Like...REALLY bad. You're immortal, not invincible. You live forever without arms or legs. And because you're going to live FOREVER, the odds of that happening AT SOME POINT are more than pretty good.

i still dont get why people keep clinging to the argument of your familly dying if you press the button i mean yeah it sucks at first but youre immortal you can make a new family and with immortality you can just keep infinitely expanding your family tree i dont see a downdide
