It doesnt say you lose the ability to read and write in one of your spoken languages. It just says you lose the ability to read and right. It could mean for a language that hasn't been invented yet.

I don't particularly read and I don't need to write if I use a laptop or computer, my mobile or even one of those portable typing things, since "writing" uses a pen and paper but typing requires a keyboard. I can still use the internet and have somebody read things for me. Sounds fine.
