This sucks as a power because 1. The gold you create does not belong to you; people can just take it. 2. The percieved value of gold would decline VERY quickly 3. Those aren't even the intended downsides

Technically, nothing is ever truly touching because of even the ever so slightest repulsion of electrons. So for all we know, that is truly a possibility but since nothing ever really touches, it has no effect.

Reference from Greek mythology, there was a greedy king from Greece, he asked to be given the power "whatever he touches will turn to gold" and yes he can't eat, can't do anything freely, and the big mistake is he turn his daughter into gold.
