If such a weapon existed, I would like to believe humanity has enough self preservation to avoid using it--and infinite energy could help with fast escape methods. The good infinite energy would do I feel would outweigh the cons.

Actually the thermonuclear bomb is worse than the atomic bomb. So I don't think it is that bad.

The thing is, the atomic bomb is sufficient. At least there will be less incentive to fight with unlimited energy. Arguably, space provides worse weapons than atomic bombs already. So I think that"s not really a downside, it"s what we"d expect.

Anything can be a weapon. I'm pretty sure when Hydrogen was discovered, they never thought it would be used to make the Hydrogen Bomb. So fuck it.

54% of you have no appreciation for how much more good than evil could be done with this. Infinite energy will do more good than even something 100 times as powerful as an atom bomb would do bad... just not immediately...

Something worse than the atomic bomb being set off could cause more catastrophe not just for the location it was set off at but locations near by. What if it was set off near the coast of the US? It could cause tsunamis. Or nuclear winter, maybe even earthquakes.

Well OF COURSE a new source of unlimited energy could make a weapon worse than the atom bomb, don't you know what UNLIMITED means? But of course it could also save millions of lives and quite possibly the planet. Let's just hope no one uses the weapon.
