Wouldn't that create a lying paradox? someone could lie to you, then you could lie and say they did/didn't lie to you, and suddenly, they would be telling the truth or lying, even if it was/wasn't a lie. Point is I see no downside.

Well, you can't really tell straight away anyway. If you find proof, then you can still know they are lying. So basically normal life but you can get away with lying, and no downside.
