Invincible does not mean invulnerable, and if their hatred was that bad that they wanted to kill you, they'd probably just as quickly torture you and put you through agony.

Well what Isaac seems to be saying (I had this thought too!) is that you may be physically invincible, but are you mentally invincible? Everyone wanting to kill you could eat away at you from the inside out.

Being invincible doesn't mean being invulnerable. You'd still be able to feel pain and what not, and you can't really stand up against the entire planet.
