It'd be nice to create a game, rather than to not have created it at all. Besides if it was the greatest ever, everyone would want a GameCube and demand would call for a reboot of the GameCube. No downside

No downside, only a restriction. You wouldn't have made the world's best game anyway. Plus, lets hire some developers to give the gamecube an upgrade!
