What is the upside? You get a gun and lots and lots of bullets, and everyone dies. Just get a gun, and buy a bunch of bullets. No apocalypse needed

Even assuming that the Zombie Apocalypse happens either way, having unlimited ammo for a gun of my own choice and being immune is not worth all survivors hating me. Being around people is kinda important unless you want to go insane.
