Past is a WAY better choice. When you travel in the future, you cant go back to your regular time/times you have missed that are great. With the past one, you could relive some nice moments...

Pressing the button is a no-brainer. The direction of travel is its own debate, but there is no proximate downside to choosing to gain time travel as an ability.

Choose past as the direction and you can do anything you want and if anything goes won't just travel back in time. You'll always know the future and never make a permanent mistake
