I've lost people in my life already. I know how much it hurts. I wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with the pain I endured, even if it meant I lost someone else.

Saved from means they were in danger of death. Odds are, they never were in danger of getting killed. I'm not taking out 1000 people, that's grossly unfair.
