The loss of earth would cause massive change in the solar system and may even cause the downfall of mars. On top of that our space travel wouldn't develop fast enough to leave the system within 500 years. It sounds great but the risk is too high.

Guys even if traveling there takes a lot of money it's probably going to be free to escape. Then again Mars will be the closest planet to the sun that didn't disenigrate. We'll be okay. But as all Christians know, Christ will come again before this happens.

If earth exploded then unless we also had a permanent presence on a moon of Jupiter or Saturn we would be back to all our eggs in one basket when earth exploded unless we had gone interstellar by then.
